2K Games publisher has announced that the next part of the BioShock franchise is under development. The newly opened Studio Cloud Chamber with offices in Novato and Montreal will develop the game. Its leader, Kelly Gilmore, has worked on Sid Meier's Civilization and XCOM at Firaxis for nearly 20 years.
According to 2K's announcement, the next BioShock will be in development "for the next several years." 2K has not officially announced any platforms nor targeted release date for this new BioShock.
The people who worked on the previous parts of the franchise will work on the game:
- Hoagy de la Plante as creative director after previously working on BioShock 1 and 2.
- Scott Sinclair as art director, a role Sinclair had on both BioShock and BioShock Infinite.
- Jonathan Pelling as design director after previously working as the art team creative director on BioShock Infinite.
The creator of the original BioShock Ken Levin will not work on the new part.
The developers did not say whether the game will be a continuation of the previous parts of BioShock but called the project a new iteration of BioShock.
