Dota Underlords. Beginner's Guide

18.06.2019

In this tutorial, we described the basics of Dota Underlords. Some elements of the game are taken from Dota 2. You will learn about heroes, their stars, items and other important information that will help you learn how to play faster.

Interest

Save up the gold. For every 10 gold in stock, you get 1 gold at the end of the round (5 gold - maximum). It's important to note that you will receive a bonus gold even if you spend the gold right before the start of the next round. If you are not going to use the hero in the next round, you can buy him five seconds before the end of the current one, without losing the interest.

Upgrading heroes

It takes three heroes of the same star level to upgrade to the next tier, two-star units generally have double the stats, while three-star units generally have quadruple the stats.

Level

Your level determines the next important factors:

  • Number of heroes on the board;
  • cost of the heroes in the store;
  • loot at the end of the round.

At the end of each round, you get 1 XP. You can convert 5 gold to 4 XP at any time by pressing T. The maximum level is 10.

Alliances

Each alliance has different effects based on how many unique hero units you have on the board with that alliance. Effects of the alliance can be seen in Season Info panel, or by mousing over any alliance in the game.

Two identical heroes can only be in one alliance. To get alliance bonuses you must have different/unique heroes with the same alliance. In case of a Demons - one character is enough.

Heroes

Heroes have:

  • Rarity
  • Health
  • Alliances
  • Skills
  • Attributes
  • Items

Rarity

Determines how strong the base hero is, as well as how much a single hero costs. Goes from tier one all the way to tier five.

Health

The green number, which is displayed in the portrait of each hero, shows the health of the hero. If you want to know the HP of the current hero, just click on it.

Alliances

They are described in the section above.

Skills

Each character has a unique skill with different effects: from summoning new creatures, disabling other heroes, or causing massive damage. Mouse over the ability to see the description. If there are several abilities, it means that they will open later, after the hero upgrades to the next star.

All active skills have a recovery time that can be reduced by certain items.

Attributes

Mana, damage per second, damage, attack speed, movement speed, attack range, magic resistance, armor, health regeneration are similar to the same attributes in DotA 2.

Items

As is the case with rarity, the items vary in five levels.

Items have various effects, from increasing their movement speed to enhancing alliances, giving them new abilities. Each hero can equip only one item at a time. Items that generate mana cannot be equipped on heroes without mana. You receive items in special rounds. If you win in one of them - you will get one of three items to choose from (or more if you take an item which allows you to select more). If you lose, you will be forced to pick one at random.

Summons

Unlike DotA 2, summoned creatures last indefinitely (they live to the end of the round or until they die). A hero can keep summoning and the previous summons will not despawn.

Silence

Silence prevents heroes from using active skills. However passive abilities are still usable through silence, therefore it's advised to give your heroes such as Luna Mask of Madness.
